Comparison

Epitalon vs GHRP-2

Function

While Epitalon is reported to increase lifespan and reduce tumor incidence in animals, and to influence differentiation of neural and mesenchymal stem cells; is studied as an epigenetic regulatory peptide36, GHRP-2 is used in research to induce robust GH pulses and study anabolic and metabolic effects; clinically developed as pralmorelin for GH deficiency diagnostics6272.

Mechanism

While Epitalon works as a synthetic tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), that has been shown to bind histones and modulate gene expression and chromatin state, with reported effects on pineal function, neurogenesis, and longevity in animal models36, GHRP-2 is a second-generation hexapeptide growth hormone–releasing peptide that mimics ghrelin by agonizing GHSR-1a, strongly stimulating pulsatile GH release and modestly raising prolactin, ACTH, and cortisol62723096.

Receptor

Epitalon

Binds nuclear histone proteins (H1, H2B, H3, H4) rather than a classic membrane receptor36

GHRP-2

Ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a) 309596104

Organism or Origin

Epitalon

Synthetic peptide modeled after a pineal gland peptide fraction; not directly encoded as a standalone peptide in humans36

GHRP-2

Synthetic met-enkephalin–derived hexapeptide3072

Summary

Epitalon and GHRP-2 are noticeably different, with limited direct overlap in their usual biological context. Their typical research and application settings separate fairly clearly: Epitalon is more often discussed in the realm of Aging and longevity, whereas GHRP-2 is more often associated with the realm of Metabolic and endocrine and Musculoskeletal health. Their biological logic is quite different: Epitalon is a signaling modulator and a gene expression modulator, whereas GHRP-2 is a receptor agonist. Epitalon has a more synthetic analog origin, while GHRP-2 is closer to synthetic design background with Epitalon approved for Research use only and GHRP-2 in Clinical phase 1. GHRP-2 incorporates d-amino acid substitution and amidation features that are not part of Epitalon.
