Editorial Policy
This page describes how Peptable decides what to publish, where its information comes from, and what it deliberately leaves out. It is written to be checked: if the site does not follow what is described here, that is a defect worth reporting.

What Peptable publishes
Peptable is a structured reference dataset covering peptide sequences, amino acid composition, receptor and mechanism descriptions, biological origin, and functional classification. It also publishes explanatory articles that summarise what research has and has not established about individual peptides.
Factual properties — amino acid sequences, residue counts, molecular composition, and physicochemical values derived from them — are presented directly, because they can be verified against primary sources. Broader descriptions of mechanism and function are presented as summaries of published research, with citations attached.
What Peptable will not publish
The following are excluded by policy, not by omission. They are absent from the page content, the underlying dataset, and the article library, and they will not be added on request:
- Dosages, dose ranges, and dosing schedules
- Cycle lengths, or any protocol for repeated administration
- Reconstitution instructions, diluent volumes, and injection technique
- Stacking or combination protocols
- Vendor, supplier, or sourcing recommendations, and any guidance on where to obtain a compound
This exclusion is deliberate. Many of the compounds described here are not approved for human use, have no established human safety data, and are supplied through channels with no purity guarantees. Publishing administration guidance for such compounds would imply a level of confidence that the underlying evidence does not support. Where an approved medicine's labelled dose is relevant to its regulatory status, it may be quoted with clear attribution to that label — never as guidance.
How sources are selected and cited
Statements about mechanism, function, and receptor interaction carry inline citation markers that resolve to a source list at the foot of each peptide page. Sources are drawn from published scientific literature, public sequence and chemical databases, and regulatory documentation.
Preference is given to primary research and to database records that can be independently checked. Where a claim rests on a secondary summary rather than primary literature, that is a known weakness of the current dataset rather than an editorial choice — see the limitations section below.
How classifications are assigned
Peptides on this site carry structured attributes such as category, mechanism class, therapeutic area, and functional effect. These are organisational tools. They exist so that peptides can be grouped, filtered, and compared, and they frequently simplify a picture that is contested in the literature.
A peptide appearing under a given mechanism class is a statement about how this dataset organises it, not a claim of scientific consensus. Many peptides act through several pathways, and different research groups describe the same compound differently. Where classification and primary literature disagree, the primary literature is correct and the classification is a convenience.
Authorship and review
Content on Peptable is published under the site's own name rather than an individual byline. It is compiled and maintained by the site operator from the sources described above.
Peptable does not currently have a named medical or scientific reviewer, and no page on this site should be read as expert-reviewed. This is stated plainly because the alternative — implying clinical oversight that does not exist — would be misleading. Where a page has been reviewed, the reviewer and the date of review are shown on that page.
Known limitations
Stating these openly is part of the policy:
- Peptable does not yet apply a formal evidence grading system. Pages do not currently distinguish a finding from a randomised human trial from one observed only in cultured cells, and until they do, readers should assume the underlying evidence is preclinical unless a page says otherwise.
- Many citations currently reference secondary sources rather than indexed primary literature with a PMID or DOI.
- Safety, adverse effect, interaction, and regulatory status information is not yet systematically covered.
- The dataset covers a limited set of peptides and is not exhaustive.
Corrections
Errors of fact are corrected once identified, and pages that change materially have their update date revised. If you find an inaccuracy — particularly a sequence, citation, or mechanism description that conflicts with primary literature — it is worth reporting, and correcting it takes priority over publishing new material.
